Trying my hand at an HDR picture... I've never been able to get them to look even halfway decent before. What do you think? I'm... marginally satisfied. I'll experiment some more, because I've seen some really nice results. This was a three exposure composite, handheld, so the details are a little fuzzy (especially in the trees).

I've been struggling to find a way to finance my photography. I don't know how to justify sinking money into such an expensive hobby. I have no dreams of becoming a professional photographer, paid to take photos. But I'm also in no rush. That's why I've decided that I'll try, humbly, to make a little money through my photos, and turn all that money back towards this hobby. I only want to make art, and I think it a worthy goal for my art to finance further art.

So, I'm proud to announce the widespread availability of the idiocratic.net photobooks! I finished a 40-page volume of photos (some from this site, some not) in September. I've just recently finished reformatting the book for a smaller (and cheaper) size.

You can get the softcover edition for $32.95, or the hardcover edition for $43.95. The large, hardcover, 11x13 edition is also available for the princely sum of $75.95. I make $10 from any edition, so it makes no difference to me! They are printed by Blurb, which does fantastic low-volume self-publishing at a very reasonable price. If you're looking for a gift for someone who appreciates photos from several countries, or if you just like the way my pictures look, please consider getting one! I will use the first $50-60 to pay the web hosting costs for idiocratic.net, and anything further will be saved for gear.

I should note, I haven't received my versions of the 8x10 softcover or hardcover editions yet, so I can't exactly say how they'll look. However, there are no changes in design from the 11x13 edition I DO have a copy of, so I expect they should be just as great.
